Jingdezhen International Studio

The Jingdezhen International Studio (JIS) is located within Taoxichuan Ceramic Art Avenue; formerly the Yuzhou Plate Factory. Located within the heart of the city, this large complex includes JIS, Taoxichuan Art Museum, and several other gallery spaces. The artists that visit the studio are encouraged to utilize the local ceramic resources to produce their work. In addition to working here, artists are immersed in a dynamic cultural experience.
Lauren Mabry worked at JIS for a two-month duration and produced nearly 30 porcelain works. Other artists she worked with there were Michael Flynn (Ireland), Monika Patuszyńska (Poland), and Ryan LaBar (USA). Some of her pieces were acquired by the Taoxichuan Art Museum, but the majority of the porcelain works will be exhibited in the fall of 2016 at The Clay Studio of Philadelphia. Her project was funded in part with a generous grant from the Independence Foundation, with additional government support from the city of Jingdezhen.
